Greenleaf’s Garden Design: This landscape transformation in Methuen, Massachusetts was truly a team effort. Before planting even began, my business partner spent two weeks reshaping the property by building beautiful walkways and steps that improved both access and the overall appearance of the landscape.

To prepare the planting areas, he spread approximately 40 yards of garden soil throughout the new juniper and perennial beds. The clover lawn area and wildflower meadow required even more preparation, with an additional 35 yards of soil carefully graded and spread using an excavator to create the ideal growing environment.

Once the site preparation was complete, our planting crew installed 50 junipers and 60 perennials across the hillside. The combination of evergreen structure and colorful perennial groupings will provide year-round interest while helping stabilize the slope and create a welcoming entrance to the property.

Every plant was connected to an open-flowing drip irrigation system, making watering simple and efficient. With the system running for just 15 minutes, all of the newly installed shrubs and perennials receive the moisture they need to establish strong root systems.

The final phase of the project was the wildflower meadow installation. Our wildflower specialist spread five pounds of carefully selected seed to create a future display of seasonal color and pollinator-friendly blooms that will continue to develop and improve year after year.

Projects like this demonstrate how thoughtful site preparation, quality soil, proper irrigation, and carefully selected plant material can transform a challenging hillside into a beautiful and sustainable landscape. Greenleaf’s Garden Design looks forward to watching this Methuen garden mature into a stunning showcase of color, texture, and wildlife-friendly planting.
