Some gardens teach you what works best as they mature—and this Pepperell garden has certainly done that.

We originally planted these gardens three years ago in November. Planting that late in the season made me a little skeptical about how everything would handle its first New England winter, but the shade garden came through beautifully. Today it’s lush, full and established, with hostas and other shade-loving perennials filling the beds.

The sunny south side has been more challenging. Last summer, Greenleaf’s Garden Design added about a dozen flowering perennials, including coneflower, Black-Eyed Susan and coreopsis. Unfortunately, several didn’t make it through the winter.

So this May, we went back to work, adding hardier perennial varieties selected to handle the location while also attracting bees, butterflies and other pollinators. 🌸🐝🦋

Gardening isn’t always about getting everything perfect the first time. It’s about watching how a garden responds, making adjustments and helping it become better each season.

Best of all, our client is very pleased with how her gardens have developed—and she even took the time to leave us a wonderful Google review. Thank you! We truly appreciate it. 🌿
