This is our mid-June progress check on a TyngsboroMA garden project that was definitely a little intimidating when we started.
The client wanted a long, repeating garden design stretching beneath the mature trees. We were working with roughly 160 plants, so creating a design that looked intentional from one end to the other was the challenge.
We came up with a combination of nine different plants and repeated that grouping about 17 times across the garden — almost like creating a rubber-stamp pattern with plants. And it worked beautifully.
The repetition gives the garden rhythm and continuity while the different foliage, textures and flowers keep it interesting. As everything grows together, those individual groupings will gradually become one magnificent sweep of plants beneath the trees.
I have to admit, when I first looked at the length of this garden and thought about planting 160 plants, I was a little scared of this project!
But when I returned for our seasonal check, I stood there thinking:
Wow…we actually did this!
The client had the vision. Greenleaf’s Garden Design figured out how to make it work.
And in the end, their vision turned out miraculously!
