Twenty years ago, this wonderful Tyngsboro client trusted Greenleaf’s Garden Design to create a brand-new landscape. Two decades later, it was time to breathe new life into those gardens once again.
When I visited in early April, the perennial beds appeared almost empty. With everything still dormant, I thought the redesign would be straightforward. But when I returned in early May, the gardens had exploded with lush growth! The existing perennials, roses, and shrubs were thriving, making it clear that this project wasn’t about starting over—it was about elevating what was already there.
That meant getting creative.
I spent time visiting specialty nurseries and researching unique varieties, searching for plants with exceptional texture, color, and seasonal interest. My goal was to introduce unexpected combinations that would complement the mature landscape while giving the entire property a fresh, exciting look.
When the installation was complete, the homeowners couldn’t have been happier.
“This is perfect. It’s exactly what we needed. This is so awesome!”
By mid-June, the transformation was remarkable. The new plantings had settled in beautifully, weaving together with the established landscape to create a garden that was richer, fuller, and more vibrant than ever. Looking at it, I couldn’t help but think, “Wow… we planted this.”
There’s something especially rewarding about returning to a landscape you designed decades ago and giving it a second chapter. This revitalization proves that great gardens don’t simply age—they evolve, becoming more beautiful with thoughtful care and inspired design. 🌸🌿
