There’s nothing quite like coming back to a garden a year after planting it and seeing how everything has settled in.
Greenleaf’s Garden Design originally planted this Chelmsford, MA garden in early May of 2025—on a surprisingly hot 80° day! Our crew removed about 3 yards of the old, tired soil and replaced it with 3 yards of rich Garden Soil, giving the new plants a much better environment to establish their roots.
Fast-forward to this early July visit, and the garden is really coming into its own. The pink-blooming Spirea adds beautiful summer color, while the daylilies and lavender bring even more texture and blooms.
And then there are those bright orange and yellow Marigolds along the front edge. They’re simple annuals, but sometimes that splash of color is exactly what a perennial garden needs. They really make this garden sing with delight!
A little maintenance, good soil, and time can make quite a difference.
