Perennial Renaissance

in Westford, MA

In 2024, our team took on the exciting challenge of revitalizing a 125-foot-long, 12-foot-wide perennial bed at a home in Westford, MA. The garden was filled with potential, but over time it had become disorganized, with scattered peonies, single daffodils, and oversized ornamental grasses competing for space.

A Fresh Start

On Day One, our crew removed ten mature ornamental grasses, each 3–4 feet wide, creating the breathing room the garden needed.

The following day, we reshaped the space by installing new perennials and finishing the bed with 4 yards of fresh mulch. Instantly, the new groupings of daffodils and peonies brought structure and clarity to the garden design—something the client immediately appreciated.

On Day Three, the transformation took full effect. Our team installed 100 perennials, planted in thoughtful groupings of threes and fives to create bold, eye-catching masses of color. Once in bloom, these plantings can be admired even from the pool, nearly 50 feet away.

A Year of Growth & Discovery

During the first year of care, the client reflected that while previous seasons felt familiar, the new layout offered a stronger, more intentional structure. Removing isolated plants allowed the grouped displays to shine. The garden now begins spring with a brilliant flush of bright yellow daffodils, followed by a wave of stunning peony blooms.

This year, we also added 82 Proven Winners Accent annuals, bringing even more seasonal excitement.

By mid-June, the homeowner was delighted—“Wow! The new annuals are so exciting; it’s the best it’s ever looked!”

By July, friends visiting the property summed it up perfectly: “Wowzza!”

Thriving Results

Growth & Health:
The garden is now flourishing with vibrant annuals, lush hydrangeas, bold peonies, and striking coleus. With consistent care, each plant is showing strong growth and abundant blooms.

Ongoing Maintenance:
Pruning has kept the structure tidy and intentional, while mulching continues to provide excellent weed control and moisture retention. Soil health remains strong thanks to earlier enhancements across the bed.
