Hudson, NH. Sunny, and Shady Hill Garden

Sunny and
Shady Hill Garden in Hudson, NH.

When I met with the client, they eagerly looked through my 3-inch-tall perennial album and picked their cherished plants.  After they looked through the perennial photos, they asked to double the garden size because they wanted a Sun and Shade Experience.  They chose to focus on open space and perennials that would be vibrant on a slope.  On the first day of this garden project the crew pulled out all the unwanted plants and then the Dingo moved the 9 yards of Garden Soil up the hill.  It was a 200-foot track on sheets of plywood. The soil was laid ten inches deep on the sun garden area and then to the lower shade garden.  The sun garden has ninety perennials while the shade garden just required fifty perennials. The second day was a scorcher in early July, so we stopped planting at noon. On the third day the rest of the perennials were planted and we set up a drip irrigation system for each garden. Upon completion the client happily remarked “Yes that is what I envisioned.”
