This Tyngsboro homeowner wanted to turn a large section of lawn into a natural wildflower garden—and there was plenty of room to work with!
The new garden stretches approximately 80 feet long by 15 feet deep, creating a sweeping planting area that will continue to fill in and evolve with each growing season.
Our Greenleaf’s Garden Design crew started by clearing the area of grass, rocks and sticks. Because it was such a long haul to remove all that material from the property, we took a more practical approach: the grass was turned over and covered with cardboard, creating a natural barrier underneath the new garden.
Our three-man crew then spread approximately 8 yards of rich compost soil across the planting area to create a healthy new growing environment.
Then our business partner—the “Wildflower Genie”—worked his magic, planting approximately 1,500 square feet of wildflowers!

The results are already impressive. The masses of soft purple blooms, contrasting foliage and natural stone edging give the garden a relaxed, meadow-inspired look while creating valuable habitat for pollinators.
And this is the exciting part: a wildflower garden like this gets better as it matures. We can’t wait to see what this Tyngsboro garden looks like in the seasons ahead.
